Gun dealer gets 8 years for Lahti anti-tank gun

A Georgia gun dealer was sentenced to more than eight years in prison Monday for illegally possessing an unregistered Lahti L39 anti-tank gun.

Mark Mann, owner of The Riflemann gun shop, was sentenced to 97 months in prison for possessing the destructive destructive device and will also have to pay a $5,000 fine, The Telegraph reported.

In April, a jury found Mann guilty of possessing the anti-tank gun, which he had been trying to sell even though the weapon had not been registered in accordance with National Firearms Act regulations.

Court documents show that on Feb. 20, 2013, ATF agents performed a compliance inspection and found several items they believed were not registered to Mann, which led to a search warrant being issued for The Rifleman. While executing the search warrant, agents found that several NFA firearms had been illegally transferred by the shop.

pick on some body else and leave this man a lone ! just some body trying to make a living for his family ! any way what the hell tank was he going to use it on ! go work on burning some pinko’s commie bastards along with some known terrorists !

    • Ron Roy

The real terrorists are all in Washington DC and they’re to well protected.

  • L Cavendish

    he was in violation…sorry
but I think we need to abolish the NFA as it stands…
buy what you want…register certain things(or not)…but tax stamps and an almost 1 year wait? Ridiculous in 2017
even capture fingerprints and a photo for each item if you want…that is automated now
if you use a registered weapon in a crime …automatic 20 years…no parole…no appeal…loss of gun rights for life

    • Jeepdriver97

Yessiree Bob, that loss of gun rights has frightened many a criminal into going straight! And how many criminals use “registered” weapons in their criminal endeavors?

Abolish the NFA and the ATF and let’s just rely on old fashioned PUNISHMENT to try to deter crime. Capital punishment doesn’t deter crime, a survey taken back in the ’20s showed that 80% of the prisoners on death row, facing hanging, had see a public hanging but committed their crimes anyway. That being said, Capital punish prevents recidivism and if the statistics are correct, 80+% of crimes today are committed by persons who have been incarcerated before. Hence, Capital punishment for any crime involving a firearm would cut down on 80+% of future crimes!

What they are afraid of is that the pissed off taxpaying American’s will band together and say with a clear voice, enough is enough, and proceed to really drain the swamp. Politicians are simply parasites that are willing to do anything to stay in power and continue their feeding frenzy and power grab. They pass laws that they exempt themselves and their families from and willingly sell America to the highest bidder for personal gain.

        • jwright673

It has been said that a politician “is a man who would double-cross a bridge when he comes to it.”

          • John F. Edwards

Well said however in these political BS times don’t forget that women play a part as well. Remember Maine and Alaska. Both are RINO females.

          • jwright673

They sure are, and of the worst order. McCain came back long enough to cast his typical no vote. The GOP needs to clarify their message about conservatism. Right now, there are too many who shouldn’t even be in the party, let alone being elected to high office. Along with the swamp, the GOP needs some draining too.

    • tomnchrist

If this was the only violation, it would be a good candidate for Jury Nullification.

    • Ron Roy

The Second Amendment was put in place so we could have the weapons necessary to overthrow the government if it became tyrannical so an anti-tank weapon definitely falls into that category.

      • Proponent

Ron Roy: “The Second Amendment was put in place so we could have the weapons necessary to overthrow the government if it became tyrannical so an
anti-tank weapon definitely falls into that category.”

        That’s a keeper!

        • Ron Roy

An excerpt from an article written by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano: ”The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right
to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer.
It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to
shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon
us. If the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto had had the firepower and
ammunition that the Nazis had, some of Poland might have stayed free and
more persons would have survived the Holocaust.” Read this part very carefully: ” it protects the right to
shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon

Sorry, I don’t respond to posts made by commenters so lazy that they cannot be bothered to clean up their copypasta mess.

            Please try again.

            … …

            In the interim..

(*goes off to check to see if the exact words; “right of the people to keep and bear an anti-tank weapon” appears in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution*)

          • Ron Roy

No logical answer I see. Got it.

          • Proponent

”Separation of church and state” Those words are not in the Constitution.

            … …

Lateral thinking, Ronald P. Roy, is my “logical answer’.

As in, the absence of.. in your approach and arguments.

          • Ron Roy

I know the words ”Separation of church and state” are not in the Constitution. So what’s your point? Lateral thinking? You can think? WOW! I’m shocked! You certainly haven’t proved it so far.

          • Ron Roy

Great illogical reply. Par for the course for you.

        • Ron Roy

”That’s a keeper!” Yes it is. Now prove me wrong.

      • L Cavendish

nukes would be there, too then…

        • Ron Roy

Technically yes but totally unnecessary. Using nukes would be self defeating.

  • generalJed

This is ridiculous. He gets sentenced to eight years while those like Eric Holder and Pres. Obama, who are responsible for actual murders in the U.S. and Mexico for “Fast and Furious” are allowed to go free! The Lahti is never used in crimes, and it is very difficult to find or make ammo for. The NFA needs to be abolished!

    • Millard Huff

The NFA,CIA,FBI,TSA,NSA,all of these need to be abolished.

      • jackcandobutwont

Gte rid of EPA, IRS, BLM, TSA, DHS and dept of education and energy….to start with!!

        • Tube Steak Nopantz

You forgot the DEA! They are nothing but the same thing as all the other 3 letter gangs. They are only around to criminalize Americans, weather they are good or bad it doesn’t matter. We don’t need a government if we all can be responsible for our own actions. And the ones that can’t be responsible we can take care of them ourselves.

          • jackcandobutwont

YES by all means, the DEA needs to go!!

        • Ron Roy

And the FDA, NIH, CDC and the dept. of Agriculture.

        • Tom

Let’s not forget the worthless senate and the house

      • Ron Roy

The whole government needs to be abolished then we can start from scratch.

        • Millard Huff

Only if we can kill all democrats, communist and liberals.

          • Carson Tyler

Huff you are a dangerous person. You must be one of those Trump supporters who would not care if Trump shot someone on 5th ave for no reasons. Lucky me I am a Republican and have no worries to being shot by you. I am sure you are one the people who shows up at Trump rally’s with assault rifles.

      • George Rowe

        You left out BATF.

        • Millard Huff

I sure did sorry about that. They too must go

    • Phillip Jeremiah Leavitt

Precisely! Very few people would even know where to get access to the proper ammo. The Lahti is a collectors piece more than anything, something to mount on the wall or a shelf and have people go, “wow, that’s a big @$$ gun”.

    • Roger Martin

Obama wasn’t even legally president. The constitution says a person has to be a natural born citizen, ( both parents citizens of the US), to be president. Obamas father was a citizen of Kenya. There isn’t even any legitimate proof Obama was even a US citizen. His grandmother said she was with his mother in Kenya when Obama was born.

  • Victor

    I Fully Agree Mr. Cavendish

    • Ron Roy

      And you’re wrong.

  • roy207a

Instead of putting him in jail, why dont they go after all the muslim compounds across the US that are just waiting for the word to come out and start killing everyone they see.Get rid of all the agencys,NFA on down.

  • Don Baker

The jury should have found him innocent as long as Holder and Obama are free.

    • Millard Huff

The jury was full of communist democrats and liberals with no brains.

    • ramthemdems

You would think that in Georgia his lawyer could have found 2 or 3 gun owners who are second amendment supporters to get the guy a hung jury and a mistrial.

  • George Rowe

Yes, abolish the NFA and eliminate or severely reduce the BATF.
Fast and Furious is an example why. has CDs and DVDs
some of which expose many of the BATF’s excesses.
JPFO is Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Owners.
    I am a Christian/Charter/Life member of JPFO.

  • SoTxJoe

Don’t you think his right to keep and bear arms was just a little, teensy-weensy bit infringed?

  • markypolo

How about that? Murderer’s, rapists, crooks and thieves get less time. But I can see how the ATF wants to “set an example” to strike fear into licensed US gun dealers. However, Mr. Mann could have avoided prison simply by registering the firearms/ concealing them better.

  • Joe704

The BATF was originally the ATTU (Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Unit) of the Treasury Department, which has been a corrupt organization since they were Prohibition Agents. For many years it’s focus has been to take as many guns as possible from as many people as possible. Its very existence is a violation of the 2nd Amendment, and it does need to be abolished.
